Choose Your Risk

Choose Your Risk is an adventure game in digital board game form, which introduces high school students to various insurances in Switzerland.

The game was developed in cooperation with the Swiss Insurance Association and kik AG. It complements their existing range of games and is also designed to be used in upper school lessons. Choose Your Risk was released at the beginning of school in the summer of 2020. You can find more information about the game as well as additional teaching material at shareyourrisk.ch.

In Choose Your Risk you play the four flatmates Laura, Loris, Marco, and Milena. They are board game figures on various game boards, which are themed as different adventures, like hiking in the Alps or a road trip through the USA. With every move on the board, positive or negative events can happen, which impact your scores. There are different ways to solve events. By contracting insurances and buying consumer goods you create more options for you when solving events.

The students soon realize that it is not easy to reach the goal with enough points. By playing through each board several times, they learn which possible dangers lurk on the adventures and which insurances are accordingly more reasonable to contract. The events and insurances were created in cooperation with insurance experts, so the knowledge can be transferred into the real world.
